What virtual staging costs in 2026: per-photo pricing compared
Last updated: 2026-07-20
There are three honest ways to get a listing staged in 2026: AI subscriptions, premium AI tools, and human editors — plus the fourth option we built, pay-per-photo AI with no strings. Here is what each actually costs per photo, what you trade for the price, and where the traps sit.
| Service | Per photo | Turnaround | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stagefront (pay as you go) | $2.49 | About 30 seconds | Free previews are watermarked. No billing traps — no subscription required, credits don't expire into an annual plan. |
| Virtual Staging AI | $0.53–2.67 | ~15 seconds | The low end requires annual billing; users report refused refunds and structure drift on results. |
| REimagineHome | ~$0.10–0.50 | 6–10 seconds | Credit-based subscriptions create burn anxiety; the workflow is decorator-centric. |
| Collov AI | $0.24–0.32 (subscription) | ~10 seconds | Credits expire monthly; cancellation has required a video call. Structure complaints on exteriors. |
| Apply Design | $7–15 | ~15 minutes | Premium price; a coin is burned per upload. |
| Human services (BoxBrownie, Styldod, VSS) | $16–75 | 24–48 hours | Cost, revision loops, and no rush option at some providers. |

What Stagefront costs
We price per image and keep the arithmetic on the table:
- Pay as you go — $2.49 / image. No subscription, no account gymnastics. Any purchase lifts the watermark and unlocks the clean HD file.
- Starter — $29 / month, 40 images (≈ $0.73 each).
- Pro — $49 / month, 100 images ($0.49 each).
- Photographer — $99 / month, 300 images (≈ $0.33 each).
- Overage $1.49 / image on any plan. Top-ups: 10 for $24.90, 25 for $59.75. Every account starts with 3 free watermarked images, plans cancel anytime, and failed generations are refunded automatically.
Every image — free preview or paid — is labeled in the file, checked against your original, and stored next to it. That is not a premium tier; it is how the product works.
The twilight comparison, because it is telling
A day-to-dusk “twilight” edit costs about $4 with a 24-hour turnaround from human editors (BoxBrownie, Styldod). On Stagefront it is a building style: one credit, finished with the rest of your images. Even the human incumbents see where this goes — PhotoUp, a human editing service, now sells AI staging at roughly $1.50 a photo.
Is free virtual staging good enough?
For judging quality, yes. For publishing, no. Free tiers exist so you can see whether the staging is any good before you pay — ours is 3 images with a visible watermark. A watermark on a live listing reads as unfinished, so use the free photos to decide, then pay for the ones you publish. Also watch for “free” that quietly converts into annual billing — a common pattern in this market.
What does it cost to stage a whole listing?
Take a typical 10-photo listing. Pay as you go on Stagefront: 10 × $2.49 = $24.90, finished in minutes. Human staging services at $16–75 per photo: $160–750, with a 24–48 hour wait and revision rounds. If you list regularly, a subscription drops the per-photo cost further — Starter is $29/month for 40 images (≈ $0.73 each). Physical staging, for reference, costs thousands and takes weeks to book.
Judge it on your own photos.
3 free images, no card required — staged in about a minute, labeled and original kept.
